Ethereum was launched in 2015 by Vitalik Buterin, and nowadays, it's the world's second most important crypto. Ethereum is basically a blockchain network that enables the creation of decentralised apps (dApps) through smart contracts. It has its own cryptocurrency, ether (ETH), that makes all the transactions within the network possible.

While BTC is a value reserve, Ethereum has boosted the creation of DeFi (decentralised finances), NFTs (non-fungible tokens) and more innovations, becoming a fundamental piece in the crypto ecosystem.
